Not too many surprises in Q1 in Moto2 with Xavi Vierge doing the best lap in the first session of qualifying ahead of a good Jorge Martin who performed better even than his teammate, Brad Binder, who was out for just 0.020s. Mission complete for Lorenzo Baldassarri who had to face first Q1 of the year due to a tough sessions of free practice, while Nicolò Bulega managed to get the last spot into Q2 and was the first rider going over the 1.52.
Almost everyone then did their best lap during the first run except Marcel Schrotter who did a stunning last attempt and got a late pole position for just 0.040s. Tom Luthi did not improve his time and ended in 2nd, with Alex Marquez 3rd closing the first row.
Nicolò Bulega, after being forced to pass through Q1, ended with a great 4th position ahead of Jorge Navarro and Luca Marini. The three are separate by just one tenth of a second and could fight for the high position on Sunday. Nagashima opens third row ahead of Sam Lowes and Augusto Fernandez.
Tough qualifying for Lorenzo Baldassarri and Mattia Pasini, 15th and 18th at the end of the day, with the two who should make a great comeback from behind to fight for podium and victory.
