The monstre of Laguna is again Jonathan Rea who gets pole position in American soil with a stunning lap. Reigning world champion has been faster than everyone else riding in 1.21.8, the only one under the threshold of 1.22 alongside Chaz Davies. The Briton from Ducati was really close to snatch second Superpole of the year but ended just behind his rival for anything.

First row is closed by Alvaro Bautista, first rider over the 1.22 but in a good position as long as he could get benefit from his engine to jump into the lead, with the Spaniard who will have a good chance to stop Rea in Race 1. Also Tom Sykes will have a great opportunity opening second row starting in 4th, with Leon Haslam and a superb Jordi Torres just behind.

Toprak Razgatlioglu will start from 7th and has almost a second of gap from poleman being 0.999s slower than Rea, followed by Alex Lowes, first Yamaha in time sheet ahead of Loris Baz and Eugene Laverty. Tough qualifying for Michael Van Der Mark, 15th in a track that does not help his physical conditions.
