#USAWorldWBK | Chaz Davies tops Day 1 in Laguna!
Ducati rider seems to be strong after hard times and a tough FP1 in American soil putting his bike ahead of everyone else, with Jonathan Rea and Alvaro Bautista following him
After a difficult FP1, Ducati seems to have found something good for his riders to be competitive and fast as long as Chaz Davies has been the fastest guy overall in American afternoon in Laguna Seca. The Briton is looking well in his Panigale and could be a serious contender for Superpole and for podium positions during the races.
Davies is just ahead of Jonathan Rea for 32 thousandths of a second, with reigning World Champion being really strong and consistent during the day; Kawasaki rider is in a really good shape and wants to increase his championship lead on Alvaro Bautista, who ended 3rd at the end of the day, with the Spaniard forced to stop Rea’s comeback.
Tom Sykes finished 4th after a positive day in Laguna and seems to be ready for the fight with his BMW after a really unlucky weekend at Donington Park; Sykes’ desire is surely to redeem hisself after what happened in British GP, while Leon Haslam, 5th in Laguna FP2, wants to confirm the good results conquered just one week ago in his home GP.
Behind them we have Loris Baz, looking really well again also in America with his independent Yamaha being half of a second slower than FP2 leader, followed by Toprak Razgatlioglu and Alex Lowes, with Pata Yamaha rider being the first one over the 1.23. Top 10 is closed by Jordi Torres and Sandro Cortese, while Michael Van Der Mark seemed to struggle a bit more than FP1 ending in 12th.
