F1 | Qatar GP | Mick Schumacher happy with his session “I like the track.”
Mick will start the Qatar Gp from the 19th place. The German is happy with his session and keeps a positive mindset for tomorrow.
Mick Schumacher will start the Qatar Gp from the 19th place right ahead of his teammate Nikita Mazepin who has had a very difficult weekend due to various problems in his car over the free practices and Q1. MotorLat had access to an online media session with the young driver where he talked about how they managed to shorten the gap with their closest competitors, the session and the challenges of the weekend.
Schumacher is very happy with his session, “I think it´s probably one of our best qualifying (sessions) yet from the fact that we manage to extract everything out of the car. The car felt really good, with the setup we pretty much nailed it. I think we can all be very happy with the gap that we have to Williams and Alfa because I think, overall we didn´t expect to be this close. I think we can be happy.”
About driving with artificial light Mick explained, “It´s known to me from Bahrain so it´s nothing too new…it felt pretty good.”
Mick keeps a positive mindset for the race “the practice sessions that we had felt pretty good, very consistent and we weren´t too far away from Williams and Alfa.”
When asked by MotorLat about how much he likes the track and what sectors he expects to be the most challenging he explained “I have to say I like the track, it´s very quick very much combined … I think the 12, 13, and 14 part will be the most challenging over the course of the race just because it´s so quick. We´ll just have to try to manage the tyres through there so not be caught for the one DRS zone that we have.”
F1 is closing this weekend a triple header that combined 3 very distant locations such as Mexico, Brazil and Qatar. When we asked him on how challenging was this triple header compared to the others Mick explained “I think it wasn´t particularly more difficult compared to the other triple headers. Obviously, the travel times are a bit longer between the races. I got to spend two days in Mexico before I travelled to Brazil after Brazil I flew home for a day and I think that made the transition a lot easier for the jetlag coming here because I cut it in two steps four hours and two hours so I think there was no real downside to this triple header compared to the others.”
