F1 | Ferrari will test 18 inch tires at Jerez next week
Ferrari will head to Spain at the beginning of the following week to assist Pirelli with testing their new 18 inch tires.
Scuderia Ferrari is set to become the first team to test Pirelli's new 18 inch tires that will be used for the 2022 generation of Formula 1 cars next week in Jerez.
The Maranello based team will use the 2019 SF90 as a testing mule for the three days of testing with the car being set up according to the specifications needed for fitting the 2022 tires according to Motorsport.com.
Charles Leclerc who won the Formula 2 championship at this very circuit in 2017 will share the driving with Carlos Sainz Jr with each driver getting half a day's running over the next three days.
Monday will be dedicated to the slick tires whilst Tuesday and Wednesday will be used for the wet tires with the track being dampened with water tankers due to the weather forecast for the test including three days of sunshine with temperatures set to hit eighteen to nineteen degrees with no chance of rain.
Pirelli is set to announce a testing calendar for the rest of the 2021 season with several sessions being held in the days after a Grand Prix weekend has finished with the teams also being given permission to use their 2021 challengers to test.
