#JapaneseGP | Petrucci Leads The Way Ahead of Qualifying.

Torrential rain marred this morning’s free practise sessions, however, Petrucci topped the timesheets. 2019 MotoGP World Champion, Marquez placed 2nd, with Morbidelli rounding out the top 3.

Torrential rain delayed this morning’s FP3 sessions, as race direction and safety officials attempted to drain the excess water from the circuit.

However, this did not stop Petrucci getting to grips with his Desmosedici GP19 in the wet around the Twin Ring Motegi Circuit, setting a time of 1’54:710. 2019 MotoGP World Champion, Marquez placed 2nd in the wet, setting a time of 1’54:884. Morbidelli placed 3rd, setting a time of 1’55:175.

Viñales managed to set a time of 1’55:458, placing him 4th. Guintoli placed 5th, having set a 1’55:590, after an impressive FP3 session, he will look to carry this momentum forward through FP4 and into qualifying.

Dovizioso had a strong FP3 in the wet conditions, putting himself 6thsetting a time of 1’55:722.  Rins placed 7thhaving set a time of 1’55:796. Quartararo followed closely in 8thsetting a 1’55:811.

  1. Espargaroplaced 9th,in the damp, with a time of 1’55:824. Whilst Oliveria rounded out the top 10 with a time of 1’55:860.

However, due to this morning’s session being a washout, none of the MotoGP riders managed to improve on their time from day 1. Therefore, the riders who will be going straight to Q2 will be the fastest 10 over the combined times from FP1, FP2 and FP3. Notable absentees from the direct path to Q2 will be P. Espargaro, Crutchlow and Rins, who will look to top the Q1 session, in order to gain entry to the Q2 session and fight for the front 4 rows of the grid for tomorrow’s #JapaneseGP.
