Fresh off of a win at his home Grand Prix, Ducati Lenovo’s Francesco Bagnaia had a strong opening day, placing 4th. Prima Pramac Racing’s Jorge Martín placed 5th, having had a run of disappointing results he will be hoping to score some solid points at his home round. After a disappointing start to the season for KTM, can Brad Binder change their fortune? Binder placed 6th after FP1 and FP2. As silly season begins to rear its head Binder will look to continue to lead his team in their championship campaign.

Ducati Lenovo’s Jack Miller placed 7th, making him the fourth fastest Ducati. Team Suzuki ECSTAR’s Alex Rins ended the opening day in 8th overall, having topped the morning FP1 session he did not improve his time through FP2. Reigning World Champion Monster Energy Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo found himself in 9th at the close of Friday’s sessions, he will look to improve this through Saturdays FP3 and qualifying sessions. Monster Energy Yamaha’s Franco Morbidelli rounded out the top 10.  After suffering a knee injury last year Morbidelli has seemed to struggle, could this be the beginning of his return to form?

The fastest Honda on the opening day was Repsol Honda Team’s Pol Espargaro, who placed 11th, just ahead of his LCR Honda IDEMITSU counterpart Takaaki Nakagami.

Top Rookie on the opening day was Gresini Racing’s Fabio Di Giannantonio, who placed 13th.

Can Aprilia carry their momentum forward and get both riders through to Q2 tomorrow? Or Will Ducati gatecrash their party?

Tune into FP3 at 8:55am (GMT).
