#CatalanGP | Sensational Quartararo tops Warm Up in the Spanish sun.

Rookie, Fabio Quartararo topped this morning’s WUP, ahead of today’s #CatalanGP. Marquez and A. Espargaro rounded out the top 3.

Sensational Quartararo has qualified on pole for today’s race, this is his second pole position in his rookie season, after crashing for the first time this season during the 3rd Free Practise session. Marquez has qualified in 2nd position, this will be the 7th successive time he will start from the front row. Viñales qualified 3rd, which is the 3rd he has qualified in the top 3 this season, however after a controversial incident in the closing minutes of Q2, he has been given a 3-place grid penalty. After a heavy crash in FP3, and having the fight through Q1, Morbidelli managed to qualify 4th. Rossi has qualified 5th on the grid, making it the 4th time this season he has qualified in the top 5. Rossi has a stunning record of 10 wins at Catalunya, he will look to further this today, as Yamaha look the best they have all season. This will be the first there are 4 Yamahas qualified in the top 5 since the #CzechGP 2012.


Quartararo topped the session with a time of 1:39:918, after an astounding pole position yesterday.  Marquez closely followed in 2nd, with a time of 1:39:965. A. Espargaro rounded out the top 3 with a time of 1:40:173.

Top Yamaha was contender for Rookie of the Year,  Quartararo who topped the session. Viñales followed in 4th with a time of 1:40:188. Rossi set a time of 1:40:417, placing him 7th. Morbidelli found himself in 20th position, after a nasty crash during yesterday’s FP3 session, he will be undoubtedly battered and bruised this morning, he set a time of 1:41:123.

Top Ducati was Petrucci who placed 8th, with a time of 1:40:532Dovizioso set a time of 1:40:560, which placed him 9th. Rabat placed 13th, with a time of 1:40:734. Ducati’s candidate for Rookie of the Year, Bagnaia, placed 14th, with a time of 1:40:748. Miller placed 15th, with a time of 1:40:789. Abraham placed 19thwith a time of 1:41:104.

Top Suzuki was Rins, who placed 5th, with a time of 1:40:298. Mir set a time of 1:40:733, placing him 12th. Suzuki test rider and wildcard, Guintoli placed 23rd, with a time of 1:41:217.

Top Honda was Marquez in 2nd. Nakagami set a time of 1:40:323, placing him 6th. Crutchlow placed 10thwith a time of 1:40:705. Lorenzo placed 11th, with a time of 1:40:708.

Top KTM for this morning’s Warm Up was P. Espargaro, with a time of 1:40:821, placing him 16th. Zarco set a time of 1:40:976, placing him 17th.  Oliveira placed 21st, with a time of 1:41:212. Syahrin placed 24thwith a time of 1:44:444, he crashed at the beginning of the session, hindering his progress this morning.

Top Aprilia was A. Espargaro, who placed 3rd. Iannone set a time of 1:41:076, placing him 18thAprilia test rider and wildcard, Smith placed 22ndwith a time of 1:41:345.

Top Rookie was Quartararo who continued his impressive form this weekend, by topping the final WUP before the race.

The weather for today’s race at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, looks to remain dry and bright with little/no cloud cover, and highs of 27ºC.
