#RiminiWorldSBK | Alvaro Bautista dominates Superpole Race as Rea crashes out
Alvaro gets his 14th win this season as Rea crashes but still managed to end in 5th. Drama for Sykes, who had a mechanical problem in the final laps while he was third
Alvaro Bautista dominates in Misano also and gets his 14th win of the season in Superpole Race; the Spaniard had a really good start from 5th position on the grid and managed to be 3rd at the first corner already. Championship leader then made his move on Sandro Cortese few seconds later and on Jonathan Rea to take the lead after 2 laps.
It was then again a solitary race for Alvaro who made the pace being able to be the only rider doing 1.35.1/2 with consistency making an impressive rhythm. Jonathan Rea tried to stay as close as he could but ended crashing at turn 10 but still able to rejoin the track quickly to finish the race in 5th.
Drama for Sandro Cortese, who had a podium result in his hands but he threw away that at the middle of the race finishing on the gravel at turn 16; the German was keeping a really good rhythm, similar to Rea also, but he could not manage to end the race and threw away a great opportunity. Shame for Chaz Davies too, crashed in the first part of the race.
With Jonathan and Sandro’s crashes, it seemed that Tom Sykes was going to repeat Race 1 podium behind Alex Lowes, who got a secure podium spot after the same of yesterday and managed to get a good result his time, but then a mechanical problem forced him to retire in the last lap at turn 10, with Leon Haslam and Toprak Razgatlioglu saying thanks overtaking him. It could have been a great fight for the last position on the podium but BMW rider was really unlucky and could not even end the race. Haslam finished then 3rd with Toprak 4th; the Turkish tried everything to get that podium place but he was not able to.
