For sure it was not an easy race for everyone, especially for World SBK riders who had to face more than one red flag in Misano during Race 1. Just one hour before race time, it started to rain again on the circuit but the situation was initially still good enough to have a proper race.

Rain then intensified while riders were doing the warm-up lap, forcing Race Direction to delay the start in a first moment and red flag the race in a second one just after a few laps in which Alex Lowes took the lead from Jonathan Rea.

After the second start, Jonathan Rea had the better start again and snatched first position from Alex Lowes, who was still the only rider able to keep reigning World Champion’s rhythm, while Tom Sykes stayed in third ahead of the two Ducatis with Chaz Davies and Alvaro Bautista behind him.

Everything changed when Alex Lowes tried a decisive move on Rea and took the lead again and tried to run away from Kawasaki rider, but the Briton from Yamaha asked too much from his bike and ended the race in the worst way possible crashing at turn 11 when he had a good gap on the other guys.

Jonathan Rea said so big thanks to him and went for his third win of the season with Tom Sykes in second coming back to the podium thanks to a consistent race, while Alvaro Bautista took benefit from Leon Haslam’s crash and finished in 3rd. Rea’s teammate made a mistake indeed when he was fighting for podium position after a good fight with Chaz Davies, who lost a lot of gap after that duel.

Race did not end so well for Barni Racing Team riders, with Michael Ruben Rinaldi who was doing really good in 7th place but ended the day on the gravel and same for Michele Pirro.

Surprise of the day has been Loris Baz, 4th after the chequered flag started from really behind, while Toprak Razgatlioglu threw away in the last lap crashing after a fight with Sandro Cortese, 7th and Takahashi, 8th.
