#RiminiWorldSBK | Van Der Mark fastest overall before being taken out by the ambulance due to a big highside
Yamaha rider is the fastest rider in FP2 and in combined times before a big highside, with Michael being taken out with the ambulance
Michael Van Der Mark is the fastest rider on track but at the moment it is not the most important thing; the Dutch has been able to improve Jonathan Rea’s FP1 lap time too, but in his final lap he crashed out due to a violent highside. We still do not know his conditions, with Yamaha rider been taken out by the ambulance. Michael hit the asphalt really hard in the last corner while he was engaged on a good lap but the crash did not let him finish that.
UPDATE: Micheal is okay but has some pain in his wrist, which he will need to be assessed further.
His teammate Sam Lowes ended in 7th, half of a second far from the top, with the Briton who has to find the right confidence with his Yamaha. Good session for Sandro Cortese, who put his independent Yamaha in 3rd with just two tenths of a second of gap from the leader of the session. The German is just behind Alvaro Bautista, who had a solid rhythm in the afternoon and led the session for the most of the time.

Positive FP2 for Tom Sykes too, with BMW rider finished 4th being 0.361s slower than Van Der Mark. The Briton improved lap after lap and could be an outsider for the Superpole. 5th in FP2 but 2nd overall, Jonathan Rea ended the session with an heavy crash at turn 2 in the final minutes; reigning World Champion has been really consistent on race pace and it seems to be ready for the fight.
Michael Ruben Rinaldi is 6th with his Panigale and just 20 thousandths of a second slower than Rea; the Italian is aiming for a good result in his home grand prix and it seems to have a good pace at least on a single lap with his Ducati. On the other side, Chaz Davies seemed to have struggled a bit in this afternoon after a good FP1; the Briton improved his lap times in the last part of the session but it does not look like he is at 100% of his potential.
Top 10 is closed by Toprak Razgatlioglu and Marco Melandri, who has a consistent gap from his teammate, while Michele Pirro started really well FP2 session being 2nd as well but crashed out again and lost a bit of time. Ducati test rider ended FP2 in 11th position with eight tenths of a second of gap from FP2 leader.
