MotoGP| Marc Marquez storms to top the FP2 with a record break Losail Circuit lap
Marc Marquez warned the rivals with his lightening pace in FP2 at Losail International circuit with lap three tenths under the previous record to finsish the session ahead of Maverick Vinales and Jack Miller
With nail-biting last last night minutes of the FP2 and a fight to automatically make into Q2, it was Marc Marquez’s works Honda which emerged on top of the time sheet. With some help from rival Yamaha of Maverick Vinales, Marc Marquez managed a blistering lap of 1:53.380 a clear 3 tenths faster than faster ever Losail Circuit Lap.
Almost a half second Marquez was Maverick Vianles who gave slips stream benefit to reigning champion but in return ended up behind him.
Surprise of the session was Jack Miller who in last minutes slotted his Alma Pramac Ducati at P3 with a lap of 1:53.908, a tenth ahead of factory Ducati of Petrucci. Rookie Fabio Quartararo, also stunned everyone after putting his Petronas Yamaha SRT into top five.
Behind the top five at P6 finished last year’s runner Dovizioso with a lap time of 1:54.256 only a hundredth ahead of another Petronas Yamaha SRT rider: Franco Morbidelli.
Last effort of Alex Rins resulted in P8 for his Suzuki, pushing out Lorenzo out of top ten.
Aleix Espargaro finished P9 ahead of Joan Mir.
Recovering Lorenzo couldn’t replicate his FP2 and couldn’t keep up with the qualifying style laps of the rival finshed P11 ahead of Takaaki Nakagami and Cal Crutchlow.
Session was a disappointment for ‘The Doctor’ who failed to improve on his FP1 leading time and ended the session down at P17.
