Malaysian GP | Race Preview
Last weekend at the #AustralianGP, Yamaha ended their longest ever losing streak, with Viñales taking a stunning win. This weekend we head to a very different climate, the Sepang International Circuit will host a long, hot and challenging race.
Viñales looked cool, calm and confident throughout the #AustralianGP, taking Yamaha to the top step of the podium for the first time since Le Man 2017. With Rossi having somewhat of a mixed weekend, finishing 6th in race means the Yamaha riders are separated by just 15 points in the championship.
Whilst Marquez has already been crowned 2018 MotoGP World Champion, 2nd in the championship is all to play for. Dovizioso leads the charge for 2nd, by 15 points over Rossi. Viñales trails Rossi by 15 points again, whilst an injured Crutchlow currently lies 5th.
Thursday’s press conference will see Syahrin, Marquez, Lorenzo, Dovizioso, Viñales and Iannone answer questions from the press and the public via social media. These riders will give their opinions on the race weekend ahead, they will most likely talk about THAT crash between Zarco and Marquez, and the chase for 2nd in the championship.
This weekend’s #MalaysianGP is set to be a thriller, who will triumph; 2018 champion, Marquez, can Lorenzo throw the cat among the pigeons on his return? Or will one of the Yamaha reign supreme at the Sepang International Circuit?
As the battle for ‘Rookie of the Year’ heats up, Syahrin will be looking for redemption at his HomeGP after a crash at the #AustralianGP. With just 12 points separating Syahrin from current Top Rookie Morbidelli, they will be looking for their best finishes this weekend to bolster their campaigns for ‘Rookie of the Year’.
The weekend looks be overcast throughout, with thunder and lightening storms forecast for all 3 days. Friday will experience highs of 33ºC, Saturday will be a little cooler at 31ºC and Sunday looks to be 32ºC.
