Thai GP | First Blood to Yamaha in FP1
In a surprising session, Maverick Viñales and Valentino Rossi appeared to return to form, taking 1st and 2nd in FP1. Andrea Dovizioso completed the top 3.
As MotoGP leaps into the unknown this weekend at the Chang International Circuit, Maverick Viñales led the way in this morning’s FP1 session, setting a time of 1:31:220. Rossi followed closely in 2nd, with a time of 1:31:490. Dovizioso placed 3rd in the session, setting a time of 1:31:636.
Top Honda for this FP1 session was Marquez in 5th position, setting a time of 1:31:668. Nakagami, who is currently vying to become Rookie of the Year, placed 8th, with a time of 1:32:040. Crutchlow found himself in 11th position with a time of 1:32:280. Pedrosa, who had topped the sheets at the #ThaiTest, found himself in 13th position, with a time of 1:32:414.
Top Ducati for this session was Dovizioso in 3rd. Miller impressed in FP1, setting a time of 1:31:637, placing 4th. Petrucci placed 9th, with a time of 1:32:108. Lorenzo, who is nursing a foot injury, placed 17th with a time of 1:32:521.
Yamaha, who have struggled in recent races, finished 1st and 2nd this session, with Viñales and Rossi respectively. Zarco finished FP1 in 6th position, with a time of 1:31:786.
Top Suzuki, for the first ever session at the Chang International Circuit, was Iannone, in 7th position, with a time of 1:31:860. Rins placed 14th with a time of 1:32:422.
Top Aprilia for this morning FP1 session, was Redding, who revealed he would be moving to BSB for the 2019 season. He set a time of 1:32:191, placing 10th. A. Espargaro placed 12th with a time of 1:32:313.
Top KTM was P. Espargaro, placing 18th with a time of 1:32:648. Smith, who appears to have some work to do, placed 21st, with a time of 1:33:092.
Yamaha have a successful first experience of the Chang International Circuit, can they hold onto the top spot? Or will Marquez stamp his authority over FP2?
