Jorge Lorenzo sets the fastest ever lap around Misano with a time of 1.31.629 at the San Marino Grand Prix to take pole position for tomorrow’s race. Jack Miller starts from the middle of the front row and Maverick Vinales rounds out the top three.

Q1 saw the likes of Andrea Iannone, Michele Pirro, Dani Pedrosa and Aleix Espargaro all fighting for the top two spots to get through to Q2.

But, it was Pedrosa that came out on top of that battle on his Repsol Honda bike and Franco Morbidelli took the second and last spot to go into the next round of qualifying.

Q2 started with Lorenzo posting a record-breaking lap and it looked like no one could get near him during the whole session.

Lorenzo was getting quicker and quicker throughout the session and it looked like no matter how hard the others pushed, they could not get near his time as displayed by reigning champion Marc Marquez who crashed with six minutes left as he pushed the bike very hard.

Sprinting back to his garage, Marquez was on a mission to get back out on track as his team set up his second bike.

Miller put in a great lap and got his Pramac Ducati in second place, +0.287 behind the top time and Vinales put his Yamaha in the last spot on the front row +0.321 off the pace.

Andrea Dovizioso starts on the second row alongside the two Honda’s of Marquez and Crutchlow who both crashed during the session and did well to get on the second row.

Home favourite Valentino Rossi starts P7 with Danilo Petrucci in eighth and Johann Zarco takes the last spot on the third row.

Alex Rins starts 10th for the race tomorrow in front of Pedrosa and Morbidelli.

Rins’ teammate Iannone starts 13th with Pirro and Alvaro Bautista all on the fifth row of the grid.

Bradley Smith was the top KTM in the session in 17th place behind Aleix Espargaro and infront of wildcard pick Stefan Bradl who will start 18th.

Takaaki Nakagami is 19th, Pol Espargaro is 20th with Scott Redding in 21st.
