British GP | Viñales tops FP1
Maverick Viñales topped the 1st practice session of the British Grand Prix weekend, closely followed by his teammate Valentino Rossi in 2nd. Andrea Dovizioso rounded out the top 3.
On a newly resurfaced Silverstone circuit, Viñales set a fastest lap of 2:02:073. After a difficult weekend at the Austrian GP, Rossi followed his teammate in 2nd, with a time of 2:02:262. Dovizioso rounded out the top 3 with a time of 2:02:263.
Home hero Crutchlow set a time of 2:02:401, placing himself 4th. Miller placed 5th, with a time of 2:02:973, the Aussie will be looking for his first podium at the British GP this weekend. Austrian GP winner, Lorenzo placed 6th with a time of 2:03:115, closely followed by fellow Ducati rider, Rabat, who set a time of 2:03:136.
Championship leader, Marquez, appeared to struggle with the new surface in this morning’s session, placing himself 10th with a time of 2:03:699. Top KTM was Smith, who placed 12th with a time of 2:04:013. Top Aprilia was A. Espargaro who set a time of 2:04:105 placing himself 13th.
Top Rookie this session was Takaaki Nakagami, who placed 14th with a time of 2:04:112.
As the British GP weekend continues, each rider will look to improve their times in FP2 and beyond. Can Crutchlow reign on his home territory, or will someone else steal his crown?
