Czech GP | Dovizioso reigns victorious in a race of intelligence
Andrea Dovizioso gave a masterclass today in a race of intelligence at the Automotodrom Brno. Jorge Lorenzo made it a Ducati 1-2, whilst Marc Marquez extended his championship lead, finishing 3rd.
Despite some uncertainty surrounding weather conditions, the rain stayed away for the MotoGP race.
It seemed to be that Valentino Rossi had the upper hand, he lead into the first corner after an amazing start. An early crash brought an end to the race for Bradley Smith, Stefan Bradl and Maverick Viñales, after an investigation by race direction, no further action has been taken.
Andrea Dovizioso lead much of the race, however with 14 laps to go, Valentino Rossi decided it was time for a change of pace. With no one wanting to break away, the race had been one of preservation and waiting. Rossi initially broke away, putting a small gap between himself and Dovizioso.
However, Marc Marquez was eager to rein ‘The Doctor’ in. After a short stint in the lead, Rossi had been caught and passed. Dovizioso, Marquez and Crutchlow lead the way, whilst Lorenzo got to work in battling with Rossi, in hopes of catching the leading group.
The last lap was thrilling, action packed lap, Dovizioso lead the way, from Ducati teammate Lorenzo, and Marquez. A last lap lunge from Marquez dashed both he and Lorenzo’s hopes of winning the race, however these duelled until the last corners to finish 2nd and 3rd respectively behind Dovizioso. The best rookie for today’s race is Franco Morbidelli, who returns from injury to fighting form.
