Catalan GP | Warm Up Results
Andrea Dovizioso tops Warm Up ahead of today’s Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya.
For the first time since Valencia 2016, and the first time in his Ducati career, Jorge Lorenzo will start today’s #CatalanGP from pole position. After his maiden Ducati win last time out at Mugello, Lorenzo will be aiming to make it 2 wins on the bounce. Marc Marquez will start from 2nd on the grid, despite having to pass through Q1 he aims to become the 3rd rider to win, having done this, along with Crutchlow (Philip Island 2016) and Jack Miller (Assen 2016). Last year’s race winner Andrea Dovizioso rounds out the front row of the grid. Valentino Rossi will start from 7th on the grid, he is the most successful rider across all classes at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, taking a remarkable 10 wins. Tito Rabat achieved his best ever dry-weather qualifying result, placing him 9th on the grid.
Andrea Dovizioso topped the warm up session with a time of 1:39:571, Tito Rabat followed closely in 2nd with a time of 1:39:653, Valentino Rossi rounded out the top 3 with a time of 1:39:656.
Top Yamaha was Rossi in 3rd. Zarco set a time of 1:39:856 placing him 5th. Maverick Viñales appeared to struggle in this morning’s warm up, placing only 10th with a time of 1:40:052.
Top Suzuki was Andrea Iannone in 8th with a time of 1:39:956. Alex Rins set a time of 1:40:283 placing him 15th.
Top Honda was Marquez in 4th with a time of 1:39:805. Dani Pedrosa set a time of 1:40:191 placing him 13th. Franco Morbidelli was the fastest of the non-factory option Hondas, placing 16th, with a time of 1:40:321.
Top KTM was Mika Kallio with a time of 1:40:193 placing him 14th. Bradley Smith set a time of 1:40:550 placing him 19th. Pol Espargaro placed 21st, with a time of 1:40:600.
Top Ducati was Andrea Dovizioso, topping the session. Tito Rabat impressed, making it a Ducati 1-2. Jorge Lorenzo placed 6th with a time 1:39:865, closely followed by Petrucci in 7th, with a time of 1:39:928. Jack Miller placed 9th, with a time of 1:40:024.
Top Aprillia was Aleix Espargaro, setting a time of 1:40:099 placing him 11th. Scott Redding set a time of 1:42:064, placing him 26th.
Top Rookie was Hafizh Syahrin in 12th position with a time of 1:40:171.
The weather for the Catalan Grand Prix looks to remain sunny, with partial cloud cover later in the afternoon and highs of 25ºC.
