Marc Marquez made a stunning comeback as he got his first win since coming back from injury at the German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring.
Marquez held off strong competition from KTM’s Miguel Oliveira to win his first race in 581 days.
As the race started, it was Aleix Espargaro on the Aprilia who got the best start from the front row and led into Turn 1. Marquez followed his fellow Spaniard to make his way up to second and barged past Fabio Quartararo.
Marquez and Espargaro were then battling at the front to take the lead of the race but it was Marquez who came on top.
Behind them was Jack Miller who had moved up into third place ahead of pole sitter Johann Zarco - with Oliveira following the Australian.
The two caught up to Espargaro who was then demoted to fourth place after being passed. Championship leader Quartararo had been pushed back to sixth place and was under pressure from the other KTM of Brad Binder.
On lap eight, spots of rain started to fall onto the circuit which meant Marquez picked up the pace as he anticipated a flag-to-flag race.
By lap 10, he had moved clear of the field by 1.5 seconds - Oliveira was the one to hunt down the Honda man as he overtook Miller.
The rain seemed to have held off which meant Marquez had extended his lead even further.
Quartararo had made his way back up to the podium places whilst Oliveira closed down the gap to the leader.
Despite Oliveira piling the pressure onto Marquez, he responded well and the gap never got under a second.
