MotoGP | #DohaGP | Marvellous Martin Steals Pole Position Under the Floodlights!
Pramac Racing’s Jorge Martin took his maiden pole position in his 2nd ever MotoGP weekend! Johann Zarco secured 2nd place, making it a Pramac Racing 1-2, ahead of Monster Energy Yamaha’s Maverick Viñales.
Rookie of the Year contender, Pramac Racing’s Jorge Martin shocked the MotoGP field by taking his maiden pole position, in just his 2nd ever MotoGP weekend, with a time of 1:53.106. Johann Zarco made it a Pramac Racing 1-2. Monster Energy Yamaha’s Maverick Viñales showed his pace in the closing stages of the Q2 session, securing 3rd position for tomorrow’s race.
Ducati Lenovo’s Jack Miller will start tomorrow’s #DohaGP from 4th, visibly frustrated at the end of the Q2 session. Miller will be looking to fight for the victory tomorrow after being blighted by tyre issues at last weekend’s #QatarGP. Monster Energy Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo secured 5th on the grid, ahead of Ducati Lenovo’s Francesco Bagnaia, who made it 4 Ducatis in the top 6.
Aprilia Racing Team Gresini’s Aleix Espargaro, despite a gargantuan effort from the Spaniard, will line up 7th , and will aim to battle for the podium during the #DohaGP. The Team Suzuki ECSTAR duo completed the 3rd row, as Alex Rins qualified 8th, with Joan Mir in 9th , after competing through Q1 to secure his grid spot.
Petronas Yamaha SRT’s Franco Morbidelli rounded out the top 10, after struggling through the free practice sessions. Repsol Honda’s Stefan Bradl placed 11th, after a small crash during FP3, and will be aiming for a top 10 finish. Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Miguel Oliveira secured 12th position, having battled through both qualifying sessions, completing the 4th row ahead of tomorrow’s #DohaGP.
SKY VR46 Esponsorama’s Luca Marini qualified in 13th, despite his best efforts through Q1. A top 10 finish will be his aim tomorrow. LCR Honda duo, Alex Marquez and Takaaki Nakagami missed out on Q2, as did Petronas Yamaha SRT’s Valentino Rossi, presumably they will look to make a comeback during tomorrow’s #DohaGP.
Can the Pramac Racing duo fend off the rest of the field? Will Viñales do the double, or can Miller and Bagnaia spoil the party on the podium?
