MotoGP | #QatarGP | Miller Leads The Way Ahead of Qualifying!
The Ducati duo led the way with Jack Miller and Francesco Bagnaia topping the timesheets ahead of qualifying, with Monster Energy Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo placing 3rd. Can anyone stop the Ducati charge for pole position?
The Ducati Lenovo Team duo Jack Miller and Francesco Bagnaia remained at the top of the combined timesheets ahead of today’s qualifying session. With the lap record tantalisingly close can either of the Ducati duo steal the record on their way to pole position? Monster Energy Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo remained in 3rd.
Pramac Racing’s Johann Zarco who heads into qualifying 4th fastest will be looking to make it a Ducati lockout on the front row. Despite a slow start to the FP3 session, Alex Rins ended free practice in 5th. Monster Energy Yamaha’s Maverick Viñales impressed throughout the practice sessions, leaving himself 6th fastest as he heads in qualifying.
Calm, cool and collected Petronas Yamaha SRT man Franco Morbidelli was fast through FP3, however on the combined times remained 7th fastest. Despite a small crash in the closing stages of FP3, Aleix Espargaro secured himself a direct Q2 spot, finishing free practice 8th quickest. Petronas Yamaha SRT’s Valentino Rossi ensured all 4 Yamahas appeared in the top 10, securing 9th fastest and a direct Q2 spot for ‘The Doctor’. Repsol Honda’s Pol Espargaro rounded out the top 10.
The fastest Rookie ahead of qualifying is Jorge Martin aboard the Pramac Racing Ducati, who placed 13th. Can Martin challenge for a Q2 spot as he battles through Q1.
Battling for a spot in Q2 through the Q1 session will be race winners Brad Binder and Miguel Oliveria, both LCR Hondas Alex Marquez and Takaaki Nakagami, and reigning World Champion Joan Mir.
Can anyone stop the Ducati charge with Miller and Bagnaia through qualifying? Will Yamaha spoil the party, or can Aprilia steal pole position?
