Franco Morbidelli is the fastest guy in qualifying with an impressive lap ahead of Jack Miller and Takaaki Nakagami. Joan Mir is 12th
Franco Morbidelli will try everything he could to keep his title ambition alive until Portimao. Petronas Yamaha SRT rider made an impressive lap in qualifying clinching pole position ahead of Jack Miller and Takaaki Nakagami. The Australian guy wsa the fastest Ducati on the track while the Japanese from Honda LCR confirms the progress made throughout the whole season.
Johann Zarco qualified himself in 4th followed by Pol Espargaro and championship contender Maverick Vinales. The Spaniard is still able to fight for the Title but his chances are really low having a 41 points gap from the leader.
Third row for Aleix Espargaro in 7th ahead of Francesco Bagnaia and Q1 leader Brad Binder. Miguel Oliveira crossed the line in 10th while second Q1 leader Fabio Quartararo is 11th ahead of Joan Mir.
Mir could clinch his first ever MotoGP title tomorrow having his rivals behind him: Alex Rins is 14th after a tough Q1 where the rain stopped his chance to improve the lap time, while Andrea Dovizioso is only 17th behind Valentino Rossi.
With a 37 points lead on Quartararo and Rins, 41 on Vinales and 45 on Dovizioso and Morbidelli, Mir could manage the situation with a good start having a good race pace as well. We’ll just have to see tomorrow if the Spaniard could become the new MotoGP world champion for Suzuki.
