MotoGP | AlcañizGP | Fast Franco Leads the way into Qualifying!
Petronas Yamaha SRT’s Franco Morbidelli topped the FP3 timesheets ahead of this afternoon’s Qualifying session. Takaaki Nakagami placed 2nd, ahead of championship contender Fabio Quartararo. As Ducati’s struggles continued throughout FP3, all 6 Ducati riders will battle through Q1 who will secure a Q2 spot?
Petronas Yamaha SRT’s Franco Morbidelli set a late lap time of 1:47.333, topping the timesheets ahead of the Qualifying session for the #AlcañizGP. Takaaki Nakagami set a time of 1:47.392, placing him 2nd ahead of Petronas Yamaha SRT’s Fabio Quartararo, who set a time of 1:47.401, placing himself 3rd . Will Quartararo be able to repeat his success from last weekend and steal pole position?
Monster Energy Yamaha’s Maverick Viñales found himself in 4th position, after having impressive pace throughout the opening day’s sessions, and will look to continue this pace throughout Qualifying. Alex Marquez placed 5th, improving on his lap time from yesterday’s session. Red Bull KTM Tech 3’s contender for Rookie of the Year, Lecuona impressed during FP3, placing 6th, securing himself a direct spot through to Q2.
Winner of the #AragonGP Alex Rins secured his spot in Q2, placing 7th overall ahead of this afternoon’s Qualifying session. Red Bull KTM Tech 3’s Miguel Oliveira found himself in 8th after the combined Free Practise sessions. Britain’s Cal Crutchlow placed 9th and will be looking to repeat last weekend’s Qualifying success. Championship leader Joan Mir took the last direct spot through to Q2, placing 10th.
As Ducati’s woes continued throughout the final practise session, all 6 Ducati riders will have to compete through Q1, in order to secure a spot in Q2. However, with only 2 spots available will Ducati be able to fend off KTM and Aprilia?
