Alex Rins became the eighth different winner this season at the Aragon Grand Prix with Alex Marquez taking his second podium in a row and Joan Mir taking the last spot on the rostrum for a double Suzuki podium.

Fabio Quartararo started on pole position alongside fellow Yamaha man Maverick Vinales and Cal Crutchlow completed the front row.

It was Vinales who led the pack after the first two short sharp corners ahead of Quartararo and Franco Morbidelli.

By the second lap, the factory Yamaha man was pulling away from the two satellite bikes.

Lap three, Alex Rins got by Morbidelli for third place. Mir then got past Jack Miller on the same lap to take fifth place.

Pecco Bagnaia crashed out of the race on lap 3.

Rins was closing in on Quartararo and made a pass on the championship leader to take second place in the race.

Alex Marquez made his way up to sixth place by lap seven by passing Miller on the Pramac Ducati. Takkaki Nakagami followed him through into seventh place.

Mir took the two Petronas Yamaha bikes in one corner into third place.

Rins took the lead of the race on lap nine from Vinales and Marquez took Quartararo for fifth place.

Marquez made up another place in fourth as he took the other Petronas bike, hunting down the podium places.

By lap 12, Nakagami also took the championship leader for sixth place. Miller and Dovizioso got past Quartararo as the Frenchman was going backwards.

Mir took Vinales on lap 14 and Marquez followed through by the next corner which demoted Vinales to fourth.

Quartararo dropped to 15th on the same lap, narrowly staying in the points with Miguel Oliveira breathing down his neck.

On lap 16, Marquez had closed down the two Suzuki’s and those three broke away from the chasing pack.

Marquez finally got past Mir on lap 19, took second place and split the two Suzuki’s. Four laps to go and he was hunting down Rins in the lead.

On the last lap, Rins looked to have it all under control and took the chequered flag ahead of the Honda man.

Marquez took second place - back to back podiums for the Spaniard on the Repsol Honda bike. Mir took third place to make it a double podium for Suzuki.

Vinales took fourth, ahead of Nakagami in fifth place and Morbidelli finished the race in sixth place.

Andrea Dovizioso took seventh place, Crutchlow in eighth and Miller in ninth.

Johann Zarco finished the race in 10th place, followed by the two KTM’s of Brad Binder in 11th and Pol Espargaro in 12th.

Aleix Espargaro was 13th, Iker Lecuona in 14th and French Grand Prix winner Danilo Petrucci finished in the last points scoring position.

Oliveira finished 16th, Stefan Bradl in 17th and Quartararo finished in 18th place - losing the championship lead.

Bradley Smith finished 19th and Tito Rabat rounded out the pack in 20th place. Bagnaia was the only crasher in the race.

The race result means that Mir has now taken the lead of the championship by six points from Quartararo. Vinales is in third - 12 points off the top and Dovizioso is 15 points away.
