Home hero Fabio Quartararo takes pole in fine fashion at the French Grand Prix at Le Mans with the two Ducati’s of Jack Miller and Danilo Petrucci alongside him on the front row.

We started the qualifying session off with Q1 and we had Pecco Bagnaia, Petrucci and the two Suzuki bikes of Joan Mir and Alex Rins fight for the top two spots to progress into Q2.

Petrucci had quickly set the benchmark in the session with a 1:31.952 and it was clear that no one would be his time. Bagnaia joined his Ducati compatriot and set the second fastest time to fight for the top 12 positions on the grid.

It looked like Quartararo was the one to beat as Q2 got underway. However, towards the end of the session, the Ducati’s came to life and began to threaten the Frenchman’s pole position hopes.

It was not enough from them to beat Quartararo on home soil as he took pole position with a 1:31.315. Miller will start tomorrow’s race in second place and Petrucci made his way from Q1 all the way to the front row.

Cal Crutchlow had his best qualifying session this year as he qualified in fourth place, Maverick Vinales will start from the middle of the front row and Andrea Dovizioso will start in sixth place.

Bagnaia qualified seventh, Pol Espargaro is top KTM in eighth and Johann Zarco in ninth place.

Valentino Rossi qualified in 10th place, Franco Morbidelli in 11th and Miguel Oliveira in 12th.

Nakagami qualified in 13th place for tomorrow’s race, championship contender Joan Mir will start in 14th place and Aleix Espargaro in 15th.

Rins qualified in 16th, despite a crash Brad Binder will start in 17th place and fellow rookie Alex Marquez will start in 18th.

Bradley Smith will start 19th, Iker Lecuona in 20th and Stefan Bradl in 21st. Tito Rabat rounds out the grid.

Tomorrow’s race will get underway earlier than usual and will start at 13:00 (GMT+2) local time.
