MotoGP | Catalan GP | FP3: Quartararo leads the way, Dovizioso out of Q2
Fabio Quartararo shines in FP3 showing impressive pace in Barcelona during the last session of free practices, followed by Maverick Vinales and Miguel Oliveira. Championship leader Andrea Dovizioso is forced to Q1
Fabio Quartararo and Catalunya have a good relationship as showed by the French yesterday. Petronas SRT Yamaha rider leads the way in the last session of free practices where the number 20 made a stunning 1.39.418, but overall proved to himself to have a good race pace.
Maverick Vinales follows him despite having some troubles in the early stages of FP3 but managed to score a fast lap being just 0.044 slower than Quartararo, while Miguel Oliveira brings first KTM in 3rd place.
4th place for Danilo Petrucci who is feeling better with his Ducati at the moment, with Johann Zarco 5th. Pol Espargaro clinched 6th and Q2 spot, ahead of Franco Morbidelli and Valentino Rossi. We have another KTM in top 10 behind them as Brad Binder ended in 9th with Joan Mir securing last top 10 spot.
Big negative surprises from Ducati as both Francesco Bagnaia, Jack Miller and Andrea Dovizioso are out of Q2 for the moment. “Pecco” finished 11th being just 35 thousandths of a second slower than Mir, while his teammate Jack Miller is 12th followed by Andrea Dovizioso. Alex Rins as well did not secure a Q2 access and will be forced to go through Q1.
