Petronas Yamaha SRT’s Morbidelli lead the #SanMarinoGP flag to flag in a stunning race to his maiden victory, making him the 4^th maiden winner of 2020. Pramac Racing’s Bagania cut through the field to take his first podium in 2^nd position. A last lap manoeuvre saw Mir take the final podium position aboard his Suzuki.

Monster Energy Yamaha’s Rossi gave the fans a thrilling battle for the podium, seeing him finish 4^th overall in a last lap dash. Team SUZUKI ECSTAR’s Rins finished 5^th, challenging for the podium throughout the closing laps of the race. A lacklustre race for Viñales, left him frustrated in 6^th, after falling through the field during the opening laps.

The new championship leader Dovizioso managed 7^th on race day at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, following a difficult weekend overall for Ducati. Pramac Racing’s Miller challenged for the podium in the opening laps, however he would be thwarted in the closing stages by tyre problems, leaving him 8^th, and 3^rd in the championship. Nakagami and P. Espargaro completed the top 10.

Championship contender Quartararo crashed out, meaning Dovizioso gained the championship lead. Rabat walked away from a Turn 9 crash relatively unscathed after a difficult weekend for the Spaniard.

Round 2 at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli looks set to be a thriller.  Will 2020 see another maiden winner, or will Morbidelli reign supreme for a second weekend?
