KTM’s P. Espargaro topped the timesheets on the opening day with a time of 1:23.638.  Nakagami followed in 2^nd with a time of 1:23.904, whilst Mir completed the top 3 with a time of 1:23.907.

Suzuki’s Rins placed 4^th, with a time of 1:24.009. Top Yamaha was Viñales with a time of 1:24.060. Red Bull KTM Tech 3’s Oliveira placed 6^th, after an impressive showing last weekend, before his race was cut short.

Petronas Yamaha SRT’s Morbidelli placed 7^th overall on day one, with a time of 1:24.187. A. Espargaro was top Aprilia on the opening day of the inaugural #StyrianGP, placing 8^th, with a time of 1:24.366.

Rossi set a time of 1:24.378 in the closing stages of the session to place 9^th. Whilst #CzechGP winner Binder completed the top 10, setting a time of 1:24.427.

Following the controversy of last weekend’s #AustrianGP the FIM MotoGP Stewards panel confirmed that Zarco would be penalised, he will start this weekend’s #StyrianGP from pitlane. However, after sustaining a broken scaphoid, Zarco was declared unfit to take part in Friday’s opening sessions. He will be re-examined tomorrow morning to determine whether he will be fit to take part in qualifying.
