MotoGP | Czech GP | FP3: Franco Morbidelli leads from Zarco and Quartararo
The third session of free practice saw riders trying a time attack to snatch an access to Q2 and it was a really close session with 14 riders in a half of a second
MotoGP has never been close as in Brno, as we could see during Friday’s sessions, but also during the third session of free practice, where we saw 14 riders in the space of just half of a second forcing some big riders to miss a Q2 access.
Franco Morbidelli leads the way after missing top spot yesterday, while this morning found a really fast lap to put himself into 1st, being faster than Johann Zarco for just 0.016s. Frenchman from Ducati Avintia impressed everyone with his lap time and was able to get an access to Q2, finishing even ahead of Fabio Quartararo, 3rd at the end.
Pol Espargaro brings KTM again into top 5 ending in 4th ahead of Valentino Rossi, as the Italian made a super job during his last shot making a good lap time where he had even the chance to jump on the top. 6th time for Aleix Espargaro, showing positive things about his Aprilia.
7th is Joan Mir after the chequered flag, followed by Cal Crutchlow and Maverick Vinales, with Danilo Petrucci who gets the last spot for Q2. The Italian from Factory Ducati is just two tenths of a second slower than Franco Morbidelli.
Nothing to do for Alex Rins, 11th, and for Takaaki Nakagami as well who ends 12th after being FP1 leader on Friday. Andrea Dovizioso and Jack Miller will have to face Q1 as well alongside Miguel Oliveira. Tech 3 KTM rider had a good lap in his hands but ruined it crashing during his chance.
