MotoGP | CzechGP | F.P2: Quartararo leads as Bagnaia is out for Brno and Austria
Last minute lap by Fabio Quartararo saw him finish tight ending FP2 ahead of teammate Franco Morbidelli and M. Oliveira as less than one tenth of a second separated top four. Pramac Ducati loses Francesco Bagnaia due to FP1 crash: the Italian suffered a tibia fracture
Under the sunny weather of Brno, it was championship leader Fabio Quartararo, who snatched the top position from his teammate Franco Morbidelli, putting a lap time of 1’56.502, just 0.007s faster than his teammate. Following closely behind the Petronas Yamaha team boys was Miguel Oliveira of Tech 3. who placed his bike at 3rd with a laptime of 1'56.550 only half a tenth behind the leader and Johann Zarco on his Ducati finished the session on P4 ahead of Maverick Vinales completing the top five.
Joan Mir for Suzuki placed a time of 1'56.876 to finish ahead of Aleix and Pol Espargaro. Leader of FP1 Takaaki Nakagami finished 9th a full half a second slower than Quartararo and Jack Miller completed the top 10.
Factory Ducati rider Danilo Petrucci set the earlier benchmark of which didn’t last long as KTM rider Pol Espargaro deposed it with 1’58.583. Soon the time was beaten by this yea1’58.583 years sensation F. Quartararo but was soon beaten by Joan Mir.
It wasn’t until the last six minutes when Morbidelli took the charge and set the blistering lap which was soon beaten by his own teammate.
Almost all riders except for Dovizioso, Crutchlow and Bagnaia set their fastest lap of the day in FP2. With neither of the Ducati riders have provisional spot in Q2
Francesco Bagnaia, who had to go to hospital for suspected tibia fracture at the end of FP1, missed FP2 and might miss rest of the weekend and next round as the fracture was confirmed. Michele Pirro will replace him next week at Red Bull Ring
