MotoGP | Pol Espargaro: “MotoGP is not just an individual sport”
After the first two races of the season, Pol Espargaro looked at his results, saying he is impressed by being 5th in the championship: a remarkable result thanks to the massive job made by KTM
Overall, KTM and Pol Espargaro could be satisfied with the job done in the first two races of the season at Jerez de la Frontera. The Spaniard was able to fight for the podium in the first race and conquered important points in the second one, securing a 5th place in the championship.
During the Winter, Pol and KTM felt to have a chance and believed that they could fight for good positions and the beginning of the season confirmed how good was the work done by the Austrian manufacturer.
Pol Espargaro underlined the reliability of his bike: “We would have never trusted to be 5th in the championship. I think this is the job made by KTM during the Winter; the bike needs to be good and perform well, but also to finish the races”
Yamaha and Ducati had troubles with their engines, while KTM did not: ”We saw manufacturer like Yamaha and Ducati, but also Aprilia struggling with the engines, but KTM did not have any problem about that”
Espargaro highlighted the importance of the team as well: “This is the prove that MotoGP is not just an individual sport as it seems on TV, it needs team work. Thanks to the team and the job done, we are actually 5th in the championship standings”
A remarkable result: “We did not expect to be here, in the pre-season we were confident but we did not think that we would be top 6 or top 7 so easily”
