It was no longer a secret, but now we have also a big confirm from KTM: Pol Espargaro received an offer by Honda HRC to become next Marc Marquez’s teammate for 2021 and now the Spaniard will have to decide his future by staying in KTM or changing manufacturer accepting a totally new challenge.

Mike Leitner, KTM Team Manager, admitted it: “I can confirm that Pol is talking with Honda HRC. Of course we will try to keep Espargaro with us, but there is nothing certain at this point. We need time to plan our future, we have to decide as soon as possible”

That means KTM is looking to other riders: “We have some scenarios on the table, but we have to wait what Pol decides and then we will make some choices. The bike is on a good level as Brad stayed in top 10 in Qatar. It is really important to have an expert rider but if the bike is competitive it is not crucial, but surely helps a lot”

Who could be Pol Espargaro’s replacement? “Every MotoGP rider has a lot of talent. I do not have anything to say on Andrea (Dovizioso), we are talking about a three time vice-champion, while Danilo Petrucci won a Grand Prix. Every top rider has talent and will adapt himself to the bike”

What about Jorge Martin, who seems to be really close to Ducati? “Jorge is really close to join MotoGP. We started a journey with him, we would like to keep Jorge, but I cannot say anything about it right now. We need to see what happens with Pol, then thinking about our future moves”
