Even though we are still missing a provisional 2020 MotoGP Calendar, Dorna is working really hard on what to do to be ready when the Championship will start. It is pretty much sure that MotoGP will turn on their engines again on 19^th July at Jerez as we are just waiting for the approval of the Spanish government.

Carmelo Ezpeleta, Dorna Sports CEO, explained 2020 plans: “We should start on 19^th July at Jerez and finishing at the beginning of November in case we could not race over Europe. We have a deadline to decide the future of Sepang, Buriram, Austin and Termas, which is set for the end of July. That means we could have 16 races this year”

During these days, Ezpeleta had a meeting with the team for the number of engines: “We had meetings with the teams, which were really good! We approved the number of engines related to the races we will do this year, over than discussing about the 2020 Calendar”

Anyway, the most important thing is how MotoGP paddock will move with the current situation: “We are working on a definite protocol: first of all, every rider will have a medical examination with a Coronavirus test if necessary. Later on will be a protocol about a lot of figure control every day, many things to the paddock and especially isolation between each team. We have also some measures regarding the place to eat, but obviously is the situation right now. From now to July something could change.”

Is there a minimum number of people to have MotoGP races? “We want to isolate the paddock from other things! A MotoGP family will be around not less than 1.300 and we increase by 5 the number of the members of each manufacturers of MotoGP class. The other number stayed 25 for Moto2 and Moto3 as we proposed earlier”
