#MotoGP, Paolo Ciabiatti: “We hope to announce soon Andrea Dovizioso’s contract extension”
Paolo Ciabiatti has a lot of faith in the future of Andrea Dovizioso, saying that he believes Ducati and Andrea will find an agreement soon to keep racing together partnering Jack Miller, who was announced yesterday as the new Factory Ducati Rider for 2021
Ducati finally announced Jack Miller as their new Factory Rider for 2021, but it is not sure yet who is going to replace. Indeed, Andrea Dovizioso and Danilo Petrucci will have to decide their future, but at the moment it is all in the hands of Andrea Dovizioso as long as he is the first choice of Ducati.
That means Danilo Petrucci is out of Ducati MotoGP project and will have to wait Dovizioso’s decision; if Andrea renews his contract, Petrucci’s will move on WorldSBK or even has to look for another MotoGP manufacturer, but at the moment the only ones who could aim are KTM and Aprilia.
Anyway, Ducati will have to wait too Andrea Dovizioso to decide their line-up for 2021. Paolo Ciabatti, Ducati Sport Director, talked with Sky Sport saying that he believes Dovi and Ducati will find an agreement: “I think we will find a deal for the future. We need time, but we want to have Dovizioso and Miller in our team for 2021”
Sure Dovizioso will be forced to reduce his retainer: “As I said, we need time, but I believe we will find an agreement and soon we could announce Andrea Dovizioso’s renewal. It would be ten years with a Team, I do not think it ever happened. I think Ducati and Dovi are fine together, but also the opposite; for that reason, I do not see why the two parts should not stay together”
