Without any doubt, 2020 is going to be remembered as one of the most chaotic and dramatic year of the whole time. The ongoing Coronavirus crisis affected the world and forced pretty much everyone to stop their activities, including sports one of course.

MotoGP suffered as well and we did not see any race from the major class, except the Qatar GP where only Moto2 and Moto3 were able to have a race which is at the moment the only one we saw regarding MotoGP circus. Same destiny for WorldSBK, that was lucky to had the chance to race in Australia for the first round of the season before everything was stopped.

Since March, we only read announcement of MotoGP races and WorldSBK rounds delayed or even cancelled from the Calendar, as happened for Imola. The last one came on 29^th April, when Assen, Sachsenring and KymiRing were deleted from the 2020 MotoGP calendar. Nothing is sure about the other Grands Prix, as we have already seven races delayed which have to be rescheduled in the future.

Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta has to face one of the toughest challenges ever to give teams the chance to race. It is almost sure that if we are going to see any race this year, everyone should be at closed doors to reduce the amount of people as much as possible. For the moment it is also excluded that we could have multiple races in the same weekend: "We are considering that. To do maybe - not during the same race weekend - doing two consecutive race weekends at the same circuit."

Ezpeleta explained the ongoing situation, saying that governments’ decisions are playing a big role on deciding which Grand Prix should be deleted from the calendar. Dorna CEO said also that they are working on coronavirus tests agreed with Bridgepoint: "We are working just on the 10,00 coronavirus tests which we agreed with Bridgepoint. Then what we are doing is to try to make a protocol, which is the way we’re working within Dorna now to see how the races could be without spectators and with a limited number of people working in the paddock, which will give different situations regarding transportation, accommodation, hospitality. Then everyone will be tested before leaving their house, then tested when they arrive at the circuit and also when they return home. This is the idea. We are working with another company which belongs to Bridgepoint to acquire these 10,000 tests."

The most optimistic scenario is to have 10-12 races, maybe only in Europe if there will not be any chance to travel in the rest of the World. In that case, we could have races from July to November, while if MotoGP circus could travel over the Europe, it would be possible to race also in December. At the moment the initial program is to race from the end of July to November in Europe and see what happens.

What about WorldSBK? It does not change too much. The first idea is to have race weekend just after a MotoGP one in the circuits that host both categories. But at this stage these are only hypothesis and we do not have anything certain about the future.
