#SepangTest, Quartararo and Morbidelli lead Day 1
Petronas Yamaha SRT riders dominate first day of pre-season MotoGP test in Sepang, ahead of Alex Rins and Cal Crutchlow
Petronas Yamaha SRT ended a stunning debut MotoGP year with independent Title and rookie of the year one conquered with Fabio Quartararo and seem to be already fast from the beginning of 2020. Malaysian Team dominate the first day of pre-season MotoGP test in Sepang, with Fabio Quartararo ahead of everyone and his teammate Franco Morbidelli just behind for 51 thousandths of a second. The French and the Italian are the only guys being able to ride under the 1.59.
Day 1 was interrupted for a while due to rain fallen at 14:30 local time, who forced riders to stop their activity on track before coming back in action a few hours later. At the end of the session, Alex Rins is the first rider to ride over the 1.59 and ended the day in 3rd, being just two tenths of a second slower than Quartararo, followed by Cal Crutchlow and Jack Miller, who tried to improve his lap time in the final minutes.
Maverick Vinales is 6th, while his teammate Valentino Rossi finished 10th not too far from the Spaniard; between them we have Espargaro brothers, with Aleix ahead of his little brother Pol and Joan Mir who crossed the line In 9th. 2019 runner-up Andrea Dovizioso is 11th, followed by World Champion Marc Marquez who is still suffering a bit with his shoulder; 13th time for Alex Marquez, 14th for Danilo Petrucci, last rider to ride under the two minutes. Daniel Pedrosa (KTM Test Rider) is 15th, while we did not see Jorge Lorenzo in action but we expect to see him in the following two days of test.
