In the magical scenario of Australia and on a chaotic Sunday where we had also qualifying session, Maverick Vinales started from pole position and had a good start, but lost positions after few meters, while his teammate Valentino Rossi from 4th jumped into the lead thanks to a crazy outside move on everyone followed by Cal Crutchlow. Another big twist happened just after two corners, with Danilo Petrucci being victim of an highside where he involved also Fabio Quartararo, who finished the race too soon.
First part of the race was really entertaining, with a superb Andrea Iannone on top position, while Cal Crutchlow took the lead and Valentino Rossi lost confidence and positions; by the way, the Italian from Aprilia engaged a fantastic duel against Marc Marquez and gave over 100%. Meanwhile, Maverick Vinales started his comeback and lap after lap came back into the lead; Marquez decided in that moment to follow him, with the two Spaniard who created a big gap on the others.
Crutchlow tried to stay with them but had to give up, but at the same time opened a big gap on the group fighting for 4th position securing his podium position; behind the Briton we had indeed Andrea Dovizioso, Jack Miller and Francesco Bagnaia battling for that place in an internal Ducati fight. At the end, it was home hero Jack Miller who won the duel against his teammate Francesco Bagnaia and Andrea Dovizioso that granted him even last podium position due to a crazy last lap.
Indeed, Marquez decided to start the action just at the last lap overtaking Vinales on the straight, with Maverick who tried and gave everything to stay close to Marc and prepared a last move at turn 10, but lost grip at the exit of corner number 9 and ended the day crashing after a really good race where he was one of the main candidate for the victory. Crutchlow conquered so 2nd place ahead of Jack Miller, followed by Francesco Bagnaia and Joan Mir.
Andrea Iannone at the end finished with a good 6th place for him and Aprilia, followed by Andrea Dovizioso, Valentino Rossi, Alex Rins and Aleix Espargaro, who closes top 10.
