Lorenzo Dalla Porta had his first chance to win the World Title in Australia and he only needed four more points than Aron Canet to be 2019 Moto3 World Champion and Leopard rider did it with a superb race where he was able to win again after the stunning win of just one week ago in Motegi at the end of a thrilling last lap against Tatsuki Suzuki, John McPhee, Albert Arenas and Marcos Ramirez.

Things were not that easy for the Italian even if Aron Canet ruined immediately his poor chances of keeping the battle alive until Sepang; the Spaniard made a good start and was fighting for the top but after a few laps made a fatal mistake crashing at turn 1 ruining his last chances to win the Championship finishing on the gravel. That meant Lorenzo Dalla Porta just needed a 12th place if Tony Arbolino would have not finished 1st, but Leopard rider stayed on top group until last lap.

Moto3 race was as usual a crazy one with a lot of overtakes and battles with some contacts; Filip Salac was author of a fantastic race but ended crashing due to an incident with Alonso Lopez, penalized with two long laps, while Darryn Binder forced Tony Arbolino wide in the middle of the race. Lorenzo Dalla Porta had so to take some risks, especially considering that in the package he could be involved in some contacts but the Italian was really good on avoiding it.

Battle was on so until last lap, where Tatsuki Suzuki tried a winning move on Dalla Porta and risked to crash involving Lorenzo too but both stayed up luckily, while John McPhee tried to an overtake on both to win the race. Dalla Porta replicated and jumped into the lead with few corners left, with Albert Arenas and Marcos Ramirez coming up from behind. The two Spaniards were able to snatch podium from Tatsuki Suzuki and John McPhee at last corner, with Leopard rider who snatched also 2nd place at the final straight, while Lorenzo Dalla Porta won the race and conquered his first World Championship!

Tatsuki Suzuki ended again on 4th, with McPhee and Binder behind, followed by Sasaki, Booth-Amos, Arbolino and Nepa. Last points positions were taken by Dennis Foggia, Romano Fenati, Alonso Lopez, Ai Ogura and Jakub Kornfeil in a crazy last lap where Jaume Masia and Celestino Vietti were involved in an incident with just 2 corners left.
