#JapaneseGP | Marc Marquez equals Mick Doohan as Quartararo clinches Rookie of the Year!
Marc Marquez did not struggle too much on getting another win in Motegi where he only had to fight in the first lap against Fabio Quartararo; it is 54th Premier class win for World Champion, equaling Mick Doohan’s victories
Marc Marquez had litteraly no rivals during the race in Japan where he did not struggle to get his fourth win in a row equaling Mick Doohan’s wins in Premier Class. Another record for the Spaniard who was again unstoppable and this time he did not even need a last lap battle to took the victory as long as he managed to get a solitary one.
Honda HRC rider had indeed to fight only at the first lap when Fabio Quartararo tried to jump into the lead immediately, but French rookie was overtaken again by Marquez who did not give any chance to everyone until that moment. Petronas Yamaha guy tried everything he could to stay close to Marc but in the second part of the race had to give up, while behind him Andrea Dovizioso, Maverick Vinales, Franco Morbidelli and Jack Miller fought for last podium position.
The Italian from Ducati and the Spaniard from Factory Yamaha did never really fight at the end even if it seemed that we could have a duel for third position, but at the end Andrea Dovizioso found an extra pace to run away from Vinales being even able to close the gap on Quartararo at the last lap. Franco Morbidelli and Jack Miller lost a lot of time lap after lap, with the Australian who finished even 10th, while the Italian had to give up to Cal Crutchlow just at the finish line for 5th position, with Alex Rins 7th.
Joan Mir finished 8th ahead of Danilo Petrucci, followed by Miller, Pol Espargaro and Miguel Oliveira. Francesco Bagnaia, Mika Kallio and Aleix Espargaro were the last riders to score points. A nightmare race for Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo both; the Italian struggled after the start and fought for top 10 but ended on the gravel, while the Spaniard finished 17th in another difficult race.
Anyway, there were some Titles to be assigned today; Marquez, thanks to the win conquered today, helped Honda on winning Constructor’s Title, while Fabio Quartararo clinches Rookie of the Year with still 3 races to do.
