#JapaneseGP | Marquez Dominates Warm Up
After mixed conditions on qualifying day, Marquez holds the advantage heading into this afternoon’s race. Quartararo followed in 2nd, whilst Rins rounded out the top three.
2019 MotoGP World Champion Marquez has qualified on pole for the first time in the premier class at Twin Ring Motegi. This means that Marquez will have qualified on pole at every track he has attended as a competitor in the premier class. Morbidelli qualified 2nd, equalling his best ever qualifying in the premier class. Yamaha’s contender for Rookie of the Year Quartararo qualified 3rd, however he must leave the #JapaneseGP more than 75 points ahead of Mir, in order to clinch the ROTY crown. Morbidelli, Quartararo and Viñales have qualified in the top 5 for the 4th time this season.
Suzuki test rider Guintoli has been disqualified from the FP1 and FP2 sessions of the #JapaneseGP due to a ‘Technical Infringement’. Reale Avintia Racing’s Rabat has had a penalty imposed for using an engine outside FIM MotoGP engine durability specifications in the FP4 session. Rabat must start the #JapaneseGP from pit lane, 5 seconds after the green light comes on at pit lane exit.

Whilst Team Suzuki ECSTAR’s Rins placed 3rd having set a time of 1’46:282, which, after battling through Q1 yesterday, is an extremely strong start to Rins’ race day campaign.

Iannone impressed aboard his Aprilia, setting a time of 1’46:797, rounding out the Top 10.
The weather for this afternoon’s #JapaneseGP is forecast to remain overcast, but dry, with highs of 23ºC.
Will Marquez continue his domination and secure the Manufacturer’s Championship for Honda? Can Quartararo seal the deal on his elusive maiden win? Or can Viñales raise heart rates and bring the fight to the front runners?
