Everyone was expecting that Marc Marquez would have ended the game for the World Championship in Buriram and the Spaniard decided to do it in the best way possible winning the race against a last corner thrilling battle against Fabio Quartararo. World Champion anyway took a big risk on Friday by crashing in a massive way with suspicious fractures, but at the end everything was fine and Honda HRC rider could come back on track in the afternoon already.

Marquez could fight so on Sunday to win race and Title both and that is what he did: “This is my best season in MotoGP. In 2014 I won 10 races in a row but the differences between the bikes were bigger than now, where four different manufacturers can fight for the win. It was not an easy season, I had to manage the pressure, everyone wanted to beat me and was expecting a mistake by myself. You cannot believe how much I worked at home and how many times I saved a crash. Every year I try to improve, but it will be hard to do next season. I will surely try to repeat this 2019, where apart from Austin’s crash I always finished first or second. Luckily, in MotoGP rider counts more than the bike, but it is always a compromise. The level depends also by the others”

Marc underlined then how important were the bad things, especially in 2015, the only year where he did not win the Championship: “2015 was the only year where I did not win the Title, sometimes you have to make a step backwards to improve. I fell down a lot that season and I understood that one of my weakness was consistency which is not one of the best characteristic of myself right now”

Big question is now how many titles can win Marquez, with someone who is even thinking that he could achieve Giacomo Agostini: “I do not care about numbers, there are guys that did not win but will be remembered forever because they made a fantastic show. For example, people remembered Mamola more than other champions. I always want to do something special, like today at the last corner, this sometimes made me lose races over winning others one. My team tries to manage my character. I am not obsessed by the numbers, I do not want to become that kind of person; I have to enjoy the moment and be able to reinvent myself”

New World Champion took also a look on Fabio Quartararo, who seems to be the rival for the future: “Fabio has been incredible, I was struggling with the front and in the first 10 laps he was really quick. He will be one of the main candidate for the Title next year, he will be stronger with more experience. He is riding his Yamaha really well, he has a style similar to Jorge Lorenzo’s one. I was not expecting Fabio to be at this level, it has been a surprise”
