The opening day of the #ThaiGP was full of thrills and spills. Quartararo lead a Yamaha charge, ahead of Ducati’s Miller. Marquez suffered a nasty highside during the opening session, however after a trip to Buriram Hospital he was declared fit for FP2.

Yamaha’s contender for Rookie of the Year, Quartararo topped the timesheets for Friday’s free practise sessions, with a time of 1:30:404. Viñales followed closely in 2^nd with a time of 1:30:597. Mobidelli placed 3^rd  with a time of 1:30:625. Rossi made it 4 Yamahas in the top five, placing 5^th with a time of 1:30:733.

Pramac Racing’s Miller placed 4^th, with a time of 1:30:698. Dovizioso set a time of 1:31:027, placing him 8th overall on day 1.

After a high side at Turn 7 during FP1, Marquez made a trip to the Buriram Hospital for an MRI scan, which showed no signs of any breaks, however he has suffered contusions on his back, leg and hip. As he was declared fit for FP2, he managed to set a time of 1:30:891, placing him 6^th ahead of tomorrows qualifying.

A.Espargaro placed 7^th aboard his Aprilia, having set a time of 1:31:007.

The Suzuki duo rounded out the top 10 on day 1, with Mir setting a time of 1:31:086, placing him 9^th. Rins placed 10^th, with a time of 1:31:094.
