#SanMarinoGP | Maverick Vinales tops MotoGP FP2
Maverick Vinales keeps the pace showed during the morning signing the fastest lap on track during the second session of free practice where we have 4 Yamahas on top 5; Marc Marquez is between them in 3rd
Yamahas seem to be ready to fight on Sunday as we saw during the tests in Misano after Silverstone's weekend. Maverick Vinales did indeed the best lap in the second session of free practice, with the Spaniard who took the maximum from fresh tyres; him and Fabio Quartararo were actually the only rider able to ride under the 1.33 in the afternoon, with the two who are separate by just 57 thousandths of a second.
Marc Marquez is just behind and he is the first rider going over 1.33 but we have to consider that reigning World Champion did not use fresh compounds in the final stages of the session focusing his work just on race pace where he is already fast; Honda rider is followed by home heroes Valentino Rossi and Franco Morbidelli to end top 5 where we have 4 Yamahas!
Good performance for Pol Espargaro who brought his KTM in 6th position being eight tenths of a second slower than FP2 leader Maverick Vinales, while Danilo Petrucci and Andrea Dovizioso follow him; Ducatis seem to be competitive but for the moment not enough to take a place on high position but are both in Q2.
Not the same for Alex Rins, 9th in the afternoon but actually not qualified for the last session of qualifying, with Cal Crutchlow 10th but not qualified for Q2 too. Aleix Espargaro is 11th but for the moment is into Q2 and same Michele Pirro, 15th in FP2.
