Moto2 Q1 was an interesting one with many good riders fighting for a Q2 spot as Luca Marini, Iker Lecuona, Andrea Locatelli, Fabio Di Giannantonio, Sam Lowes and Nicolò Bulega were taken out of top in 14 in combined times and had to make Q1 session to get the access to the last session of qualifying.

In that scenario it was Iker Lecuona the fastest rider on track, with the Spaniard being able to have two tenths of a second of advantage on Luca Marini, 2nd at the end with 1.29.346. Just 28 thousandths of a second separate him from Andrea Locatelli and other 8 thousandths of a second separate Locatelli from Fabio Di Giannantonio, last rider able to get top 4. Unlucky session for Nicolò Bulega, who had a good lap in his hands during his last attempt but finished behind compatriot from SpeedUp for just 0.028s.

Nagashima was then good enough on getting his maiden career pole position, a result that no one was expecting this weekend but Japanese rider made a really good job, finishing ahead of Brad Binder and an impressive Somkiat Chantra, probably the real surprise of the day with Chantra getting his first ever top 3 qualifying.

Great performance also from Enea Bastianini, 4th thanks to a great last lap, with Italian rider from Italtrans who opens second row ahead of Tom Luthi and Lorenzo Baldassarri: this two have a good opportunity to at least try to close a bit the gap from championship leader Alex Marquez, who will start from 11th. Xavi Vierge ended just behind Balda, followed by Jorge Navarro and Remy Gardner, while Luca Marini closes top 10 in a really close qualifying Moto2 session as usual as long as we have 11 riders in the space of just three tenths of a second!
