As happened for Moto3 and MotoGP riders, also Moto2 ones had to face a tricky asphalt in Brno where everything could happen. Also Moto2 guys had to go on track with wet tyres, conditions in which many outsider could have glory, like Jake Dixon, always fast on wet with Angel Nieto Team rider who was able to put himself on third position in Q1 getting the access to Q2.

It was Remy Gardner who got the best time in the first session of qualifying ahead of Bo Bendsneyder with the two who made their best lap in the last attempt being fast enough to get a top 4 time, with Marco Bezzecchi being the last one able to perform a good lap to get a really good Q2.

The Italian from KTM kept his pace and confidence immediately also during the start of Q2 putting himself on provisional pole position, with Bezzecchi who was really comfortable on the rain increasing his time lap after lap. Jake Dixon did the same, with the Briton who tried to get benefit from the situation to get a good result in a tough Moto2 season for him.

Asphalt then started to become dry with many riders risking slick tyres as happened in MotoGP with Marquez and Miller, with Sam Lowes being the first one on going out with that putting himself on provisional pole position, but everyone improved from that moment their lap time. On the other side, Marco Bezzecchi and KTM did a wrong choice as long as the Italian went out in the second run with wet compounds while almost everyone was on slick ones.

At the end it was Alex Marquez who snatched pole position with a stunning lap, ahead of Sam Lowes for over two seconds, with Lorenzo Baldassarri ending first row ahead of a good Nicolò Bulega. Behind him we have other two Italians, with Fabio Di Giannantonio 5th and Marco Bezzecchi 6th despite the wrong choice. Not the best session of qualifying for Tom Luthi, who ended in 12th
