Dutch GP | Quartararo Shines in FP1
Quartararo topped the opening session of the Motul TT Assen this morning. Viñales followed closely in 2nd, with Petrucci hot on their heels in 3rd. This morning’s FP1 session was overcast and dry, the forecast for this afternoon is sunny, clear skies.
The ever-impressive Rookie of the Year contender, Quartararo topped the opening session of the Dutch GP weekend, with a time of 1:33:909. Following closely in second was fellow Yamaha rider, Viñales, who set a time of 1:33:986. In 3rd position was Petrucci who set a time of 1:34:169, despite a nasty crash earlier in the session.
This morning’s session left Yamaha’s Rookie of the Year contender, Quartararo top of the timesheets. Viñales showed pace throughout the session, finishing 2nd to Yamaha’s young talent. Rossi set a time of 1:34:746, placing him 12th, he will look to improve this through this afternoon’s FP2 session. Morbidelli set a time of 1:35:500, placing him 17th, with improvement to be made for FP2.
Petrucci, who has shown stunning form over the last 3 races, placed 3rd, after a nasty crash left him looking sore, early on in the session. who placed 5th, with a time of 1:38:150. Reale Avintia’s Abraham placed 8th, with a time of 1:34:596. 2016 DutchGP race winner, Miller found himself in 10th position, having set a time of 1:34:674. Dovizioso placed 13th, with a time of 1:34:756. Rabat found himself down in 15th position, setting a time of 1:34:988. Ducati’s contender for Rookie of the Year, Bagnaia found himself in 21st, setting a time of 1:36:168.
Top Suzuki in this morning’s session was Rins who placed 4th, with a time of 1:34:423. Rookie of the Year contender, Mir placed 16th, with a time of 1:35:134.
The fastest Honda for this morning’s FP1 session of the Dutch GP was Nakagami who placed 5th, with a time of 1:34:441; after showing some impressive form the last few race weekends, this is an extremely promising opening to the weekend. Current championship leader, Marquez placed 6th, with a time of 1:34:522. Britain’s Crutchlow placed 7th, with a time of 1:34:589, after a DNF last race he will be looking to score big points this weekend. Repsol Honda’s Lorenzo placed 18th, after a nasty crash during the FP1 session, with a time of 1:35:661.
Top KTM for FP1, was P. Espargaro with a time of 1:34:659, placing him 9th. Zarco placed 19th, with a time of 1:35:759. Oliveira found himself in 20th position, having set a time of 1:35:769. Syahrin placed 22nd, with a time of 1:36:321.
The fastest Aprilia was Iannone with a time of 1:34:698, in 11th, this will be a confidence boost for the Italian, who has struggled to gel with his Aprilia. A. Espargaro placed 14th, with a time of 1:34:921.
Top Rookie this session was Quartararo at the top of the timesheets, he will be looking to stamp his authority over this race weekend, and continue his podium finishing success.
