First one to talk was reigning World Champion: “We are in a great moment, finishing second in Italy was a great result because usually we struggle a lot there. I expect Ducati to be competitive, they won here last two years. It is gonna be crucial working well from tomorrow to have a good pace and fight for the win. Surely we can use the power we have this here, last sector is the most important”
Then it was Andrea Dovizioso’s moment: “Having twelve points of gap is positive, our consistent was good, but we must win to fight with Marc. We are working really hard to improve, we can be competitive in Barcelona, we want more. Temperature will affect the race”
Home grand prix for Alex Rins, who did a great race in Italy despite having less power than his rivals: “It was an incredible race at Mugello, we knew that it would have been a tough race due to our top speed. I had the potential to win, but I could not do more. Anyway I had fun, I did a lot of overtakes, this is the positive aspect. We will try few pieces during the test, especially aerodynamic part, we cannot do anything to the engine”
Big wait for Danilo Petrucci after his maiden win: “I want to keep on this, I can win again! I expect 4-6 riders fighting for the podium. Andrea (Dovizioso) helped me a lot, especially on the mental part. We trained a lot together, we did not have team’s order, if I will have an opportunity to win of get the podium, I will go for that! It is positive for Ducati having two riders on top”
Maverick Vinales is searching for a season twist: “Two weeks ago we prepared a great bike, but it changed everything on Sunday and we did not get the result we wanted at Mugello. I like Barcelona’s track, we should have more potential here, I will give everything. We have to find a good level grip to be competitive”
For Aleix Espargaro, Barcelona’s weekend is a proper home grand prix: “Me and Pol are born nearby the circuit, it is nice to compete here! It is gonna be a great weekend, we hope to bring our bike in top ten. Aprilia is working really hard, we hope to have some pieces to improve even more”.
