Mugello MotoGP: Bagnaia leads the way from Quartararo in FP2
Pramac Ducati's rookie Pecco Bagnaia tops the time sheets for the Italian GP FP2 ahead of SRT's rookie Fabio Quartararo
In last seconds of FP2 Bagnaia smashed a time of 1:46.732s to end the Friday on top, most riders went out on soft rears for the last runs of the session.
Until the last few minutes it was Marquez who topped the timesheets and setting the benchmark of 1:47.062s, faster than his FP1 time and was set on his second flying lap.
It wasn’t until the last six minutes when Marquez was deposed off his top slot by Ducati’s Danilo Petrucci, who was further knocked off from top by Pol Espargaro – the first rider to dip into the 1:46s.
Ducati rider was quick enough to regain back the lead with his 1:46.863s, which was ultimately beaten by Fabio Quartararo and then Bagaia’s last attempt.
Ducati rider eventually ended the session P3. 0.103 ahead of Pol Espargaro, behind Pol was leading Yamaha of Vinales, who with his lap time of 1:46.973s was the final man to break 1:46s.
Marquez who opted not to use fresh rears ended the session sixth with his earlier time of 1:47.062s, behind him were Alex Rins and Cal Crutchlow.
Jack Miller a 0.453 behind the leader and Franco Morbidelli almost half a second behind completed the top ten and provisional Q2 slots.
Second factory Ducati of Andrea Dovizioso being a half a second behind his teammate ended P11 ahead of KTM’s Johann Zarco.
Crasher of the session were Johann Zarco who fell at Palagio and his crash was followed by Miller running into the gravel and crashing.
Rossi finished P18 and Lorenzo on the Honda finished P20.
