French GP | Maverick Vinales leads ahead of Marc Marquez and Fabio Quartararo
On his last minute attempt, it was Maverick Vinales of Yamaha, who ended the Friday on top to finish FP2, just 2 tenths ahead of reigning champion Marquez
Session which saw more than one crashes it was Marc Marquez who was leading the session until a quick jump from Yamaha rider saw the last-minute change in timesheets.
1m 31.428s lap time was enough to even ward off the late charge from Marquez. Local hero who topped the FP1 battled with Spaniard Lorenzo for P3 but was able to secure P3 by 0.03s ahead of P4 Lorenzo.
Ducati’s Andrea Dovizioso ended the session P5 ahead of Petrucci who was the also the first rider to crash. He crashed on his opening lap at Turn 8.
Another crasher Pol Espargaro who fell twice during the session ended seventh fastest ahead of Aleix Espargaro who finished P8 despite of his early crash as well. After a disappointing morning session Takaaki Nakagami managed to lap P9 ahead of Franco Morbidelli who completed the top 10.
Jack Miller who crashed twice in FP2 went on to hold provisional Q2 spot, Cal Crutchlow after a late crash ended the session P11 ahead of Francesco Baganaia and Valentino Rossi who was struggling to keep up with the late charge in the field.
Suzuki pair Joan MIr and Johann Zarco ended the session P14 and P15.
