The German, despite the good start, lost the lead with Alex Marquez and Tom Luthi going through, while a little mistake of Mattia Pasini relegated him to 8th position after being 4th in the early stages.
Meanwhile, championship leader Lorenzo Baldassarri was really fast after the lights went out, but he hit Jorge Martin in turn 10 while Jorge lost the control of his bike and the Italian crashed out of the race.
It was then a trio leading the package, with Marquez and Luthi overtaking themselves continuously with also some touches and Marcel Schrotter behind them.
During the 8th lap, Luthi decided it was time to run away from the rivals and so he did overtaking Marquez and then increasing his leadership.
Same thing was done by his teammate Marcel Schrotter, while Marquez engaged a battle with Navarro and Marini for the podium, with Pasini recovering the gap.
Last laps were pure thrilling for the third place; Tom Luthi and Schrotter were safe enough, while Navarro overtook Marquez and Marini after a great fight with Pasini joining them and taking advantage of that.
It was so Luthi going for the victory followed by Schrotter; Navarro won the battle for the podium, with Pasini in 4th, Marquez 5th and Marini 6th
